Collapse of Communism

Communism collapsed because countries in the russia wanted freedom. The russians tried to force comunism back . In January of 1991 they started to attacked unarmed civilians in Lithuania capita. They killed 14 people and more than 100 were injurd. the russians attemp to bring back communism follow for the collapse of it . This made them lose there reputation as a nation . thus, leading a step forward in the collapse of communism.

Creation of Israel

Zionism is a political movement that supports the homeland for the Jewish people in Israel. when israel was creatied they went to war shortly. these wars showed that the jews were independent and that they were finally able to rule by there own. After being part of the tragic holocuost(lawlocuost), this was what they needed in order to recooperate from that tragedy.

Nelson Mandela and Apartheid

Nelson Mandela was a hero to these authors because he he fought for unity and liberation. He was also refered to as a hero because he spent many years in jail and when he got out ,from doing 27 years was when Africa's future began. The term Apartheid was " Racial-segregation policy of the government of South Africa from 1948 to 1994." as stated in the link below.

African Independence

In Africa during 1955 they didn't have that much independent countries. Around 1955 they only had about 5 independent countries . Over time it did increase and around 1975 there was 20. You can see that the numbers of independent countries in Africa changed in 20 years making it more of an indenpent area. Some of the people that helped African gain more independcd include Blaise Diagne, and Moise Tshombe .

9th Grade review-Neolithic Revolution

The neolithic revolution was the period that the people went from hunting and gathering to agroculture. Hunting and gathering meant a society that would hunt for animals to eat and gather meats. Agroculture was farming for crops as a sorce of food.

The European Union

The European union was a good thing that happened in Europe. This union in Europe was basically a really big organization that linked most of the European counties together. This meant that they would all use the same money and this was also a good way to prevent war between the European countries.

Film lesson-"The Right Stuff"

In this film the Russians and the Americans where competing to see who can get a spacecraft to space first. In the movie they show the failed attempts of the Americans in the race to get to outer space first. For most of the movie the Russians where wining and they did successfully get men into outer space before the Americans and this is shown in the movie , but the Americans where the first to get a man up on the moon so this sets Russia and American about even. The scenes of this film that are gonna remind me about the cold war the most was the attempts of trying to get the first man up to space and the training that the men selected to go up to space had to endure. This took part during the cold war and that is my reminder of it with this film.

Cuban Missle Crisis

The cuban missle crisis was a time where the U.S was furious about what Russia was ploting because they had neclear weapons in cuba and the U.S tried to act because they felt because they were being surrounded by two comunist countries. This event was considered the hottest momment in the Cold War because it was very close to converting its self into a neclear war. When president kenedy heard about this missle crisis he organized the EX-COMM. They where a group of his twelve most important advisors to handle the crisis.

NATO and The Warsaw Pact

NATO is an organization that includes countries in Europe and North America. The purpose for NATO was if one of the countries that they were up against would attack the other countries in this alliance would come to there aid. The USSR heard about this alliance and made there organization of there own called the Warsaw Pact. This alliance basically formed because the NATO was seen as a treat to Russia. The way that the Warsaw Pact worked was similar to the way NATO did. It was an alliance made between countries just in case of an attack so that the countries of this alliance could come to aid.

Germany At War-WW2

propaganda is information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause. The anti-Bolshevik poster illustrates that Germany has destroyed Great Britain.

Flim Lesson:" Night and Fog"

In The film " Night and Fog" there were much more graphic violence then in Schindler's list. It showed dead Jews piled up , camps where they were burned and other imagines of how the where Jews where treated. Some of this scenes from " Night and Fog" and "Schindler's List" where very similar , for example there illustration of the death camps and work camps. The film that i think illustrates the Holocaust more effectively is the documentary. Reasons for the documentary illustrating the Holocaust more effectively is because of the fact the documentary jumps right to the facts about this horrid event. The film also drifts away with its love screens and ETC....

Film Lesson:"Schindler's List"

The Flim "Schindler's List" illustrates the holacuast in good detail. It shows events that took place , how the jews where treated and what there conditions of living were like in the ghettos and the camps. The scene in this movie that was the most powerful to me was when they showed the little girl in the red dress out of everyone who was in black and white and she goes to hide. Then in another part further in the the movie you see the litlle girl dead. That part of the film showed me that there was no simpathy for even children.

US Atomic Bombing of Japan 1945

After reading the article, I think that the bombing of japan in 1945 was definitly the number 1 story century. Reason for that is that the bomb was used for the first time on the japanese and was very destructive. The bomb turned homeland to wasteland for the japanese , not to mention the bombs after affect on the new children born from the bombs radiation. The atomic bombing of 1945 is most difinitly the top story of the century for the us at least, but others were probaly shocked due to the fact that the US used the bomb even though the war was already over and japan was ready to surrender.
